aaaaah exciting!!! Germanyyyyy!!
so luckily I didnt get the mid galley this time and were responsible for the door that’s over the wing and the beginning of economy cabin till that door called L3 door. The crew were awesome, with the spannish mafia making up the bigger part of the economy crew, as well as another South African girl (yay we spoke afrikaans, was so ‘lekker’!) and 2 girls from Croatia and the UK and Kenneth from Kenya. The flight was on a B777-300ER and was about 6hours. I’m starting to feel more comfortable in my job, even though I still get my moments when I run around like a headless chicken unsure of what to do next… (apparently it takes about two months before you feel confident)
We arrived in Munich at night and had a wonderful dinner at the Westin Hotel with the crew. I had a super yummy cheese burger, as did the spannish mafia, and some crew had an ox steak which was very tasty (dubai’s meat is just not something to get excited about).
The next morning I joined the spannish mafia (esmerelda, inigo and borja) for a city bus tour around Munich. We had to take the train to the city centre and then jump on our red bus. we had such a good time, getting off the bus at some stops to walk around a bit. there are so many places to see and it is just impossible to fit it all in one day. we went to the Odeonsplatz, Oper and Marienplatz. I took SO MANY photos… wish I can share it all with you… what was quite interesting and unusual for me (as I come from SA) is that everyone rides on their bicycles to get from place to place, even old people!! I guess it makes up for their unhealthy eating hhabits (german sausages, pretzels and beer!!). I also saw a lot of people on crutches and couldn’t help but to wonder if they might have been in bicycle accidents?? or atleast that’s my explanation for it 😉 there were also very fashionable woman in the streets, especially the older woman, and I was suprised by their ‘spunk’ or excitement in their outfits, the way they used a splash of colour or funky shoes/ sunglasses… inspiration!! I considered stopping them and to ask for a picture, but I spared mysef and them the embarassmment…
here are some pictures I took on the amazing day in Munich…
On our way back we had some german sausage and pretzels at the train station… true german experience 😉
The flight back was a breeze! with only 86 passangers in economy and it was a night flight… there was a lot of time to just sit and chat with the crew and make jokes (I even gave Inigo a lesson in photography, haha). the spannish mafia was ofcourse full of jokes and pranks, and I found myself walking around in the cabin with a hot towel on my shoulder without knowing it, lol! some people answered interphones only then realising there’s a sticker now stuck to their ear… very creative! 😉 thanks for putting a smile on my face Inigo !!
